As the presentations can only be done virtually, you need to reach more people through technology, teleconference, video meetings. You must consider the challenges of connecting to a virtual audience. Consider these 10 practices to ensure you communicate successfully.

Be brief:

Audiences begin to lose attention by 10 minutes of hearing the same presenter. Use activities to keep the audience engaged - polls, quizzes, ask for opinions, use the chatbox.

Be simple:

Keep slides simple. Don't have too many words, data, excel sheets, numbers, graphics, animation features. Less is more.

Be a TV personality:

Look into the camera not at your screen. Wear neutral clothes. Light yourself well from above. Be aware of what appears behind you. get a good microphone.

Be standing:

Stand when you present even though the audience cannot see you. This will help you remain focused and use good presentation skills like voice modulation, easy breathing, pauses.

Be prepared:

Practice your presentation with your equipment and ensure that you are comfortable using it and that it works. make a recording and play it back and identify what can be improved.

Be assisted:

have an assistant who can deal with technical issues and to field email/text/chat questions/ queries. Ask one of the audience to be your eyes/ears and let the queue up questions and facilitate the discussions.

Be specific:

Ask pointed questions instead of general questions. Set a ground rule that people should state their name before speaking.

Be synchronized:

Transitions are critical. You must be in sync with what is coming next when you move from point to point. Transitions are good opportunities to connect with people.

Be connected:

Imagine the audience though you cannot see them. If necessary place pictures of people behind the camera so that you can look at them when you present.

Be early:

Encourage your audience to connect before time so that you can sort out any technical issues in advance and help them with technical issues if any.
